Filling the gap between the Aprilia RS 660 and the Euro-only RS 125 is the all-new 2024 Aprilia RS 457 sportbike. It’s powered by a ride-by-wire liquid-cooled DOHC twin-cylinder motor that puts out 47 horsepower, making it legal for European A2 license holders to ride on public roads. It also serves as a competitor to the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR.
Here’s how Piaggio Group CEO Michele Colaninno positions the 2024 Aprilia RS 457: “In recent years, the Aprilia brand has seen an intense burst of renewal, also supported by continued progress in the racing world. The recent introduction of the 660 family, with RS and Tuono first, and Tuareg later, has expanded its target, creating a full and competitive range. We are now ready to take another step towards the future with an astonishing bike developed entirely in Noale, capable of stimulating and thrilling young people, and opening up huge potential in new markets, near and far. It is a step closer to the globalization of a brand that has always had the perfect combination of technology, fun, and looking to the future in its DNA.”
The new 2024 Aprilia RS 457 has plenty of impressive features despite being aimed at the younger, less-experienced rider.
That’s an aluminum frame bolstered by a load-bearing crankcase, and Aprilia claims a 385-pound curb weight for the RS 457. The inverted 41mm fork and single shock have spring-preload adjustability, though the damping is fixed.
A 320mm front disc is grasped by a radially mounted four-piston Bybre caliper, with a 200mm rear disc modulated by a ByBre caliper. Two-channel ABS is standard, and can be switched to front-wheel-only for track use. The 17-inch wheels have Indian-made TVS Eurogrip Protorq Extreme radial tires mounted—a 150 rear and 110 front.
LED lighting is used with the full fairing, the turn signals are integrated into the mirrors, and there’s a five-inch TFT dash. The three riding modes make changes in the output and throttle response. Traction control has three settings, plus off. The clip-ons sit just above the top triple-clamp for everyday comfort.
There’s no word yet on the availability of the 2024 Aprilia RS 457 in the United States, or a price anywhere in the world.
