Dual-sport and adventure riders looking for a highly dirt-biased DOT tire will be interested in the new Mitas Enduro Trail XT+. Mitas tells us the tire is 80 percent dirt and 20 percent street.
The Mitas Enduro Trail-XT+ is available in two different versions. The standard version, which Mitas tells us, uses a Heavy Duty compound, and a Dakar version that uses an Ultra Heavy Duty compound. The standard version is an all-around tire with a nod toward comfort and street performance, while the Dakar edition gets a claimed 20 percent more mileage than the standard version, and Mitas describes the Dakar as “virtually puncture proof.”
The front Mitas Enduro Trail-XT+ has a lug depth of 12mm and the same tread pattern as the E-13 Rally Star tire. The rear XT+ has a flat profile, an average lug depth of 13.2mm, and uses the E-09 Enduro tire tread pattern.
All versions of the Mitas Enduro Trail XT+ work on tube-type or tubeless rims.
According to Vice President of Two Wheels and Specialty Tires at Yokohama TWS Gustavo Pinto Teixeira, “The Enduro Trail-XT+ is the most aggressive tire in our adventure range, designed to meet the toughest trail conditions head-on. We want Mitas to be the tire of choice for off-road adventure lovers looking to ride harder and deeper into unknown territories with confidence.”
In case you missed it, Mitas was bought by Yokohama Rubber Company in May, part of a purchase of the Trelleborg Wheel Systems (the TWS in Yokohama TWS) from the Trelleborg Group for over $2 billion.
The tire hasn’t hit the stores yet, so we don’t have prices.
