Although most people might not think much of this, it matters for a number of reasons. And indeed recently, Elon Musk just shocked everyone with a new Tesla electric motor that will change the game in the EV industry. Well, let’s find out all the details in today’s episode!

Just a few weeks ago, Tesla unveiled the upgraded Model 3 without making any mention of the Performance model, however the top-of-the-line model is on the way.
The new Model 3 Performance is expected to have a new motor, as indicated by the “T” prefix in the VIN, according to documents posted on the Tesla Fahrer Und Freunde site. The Performance variant has a 3D3/5D1 setup in place of the Long Range model’s 3D3/3D7 electric motor combination.
The 5D1 motor is said to feature a carbon sleeve rotor for improved performance, according to rumours. Tesla hasn’t provided any information on the new configuration. We anticipate that the revised variant 3 Performance, with its 430 horsepower output, will be more potent than the current variant.
The single-motor RWD derivative has 256 horsepower, according to data made public by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, according to CarNewsChina. The dual-motor AWD derivative has 437 horsepower. It is assumed that this is the Performance model. If this is the case, Tesla hasn’t changed the power outputs all that much.
Not to be overlooked is the fact that the Model 3 Highland is reportedly 140 pounds lighter than the previous derivative. The range has also increased, which will benefit both performance and range.
The Standard Range RWD variant can go 14 miles further on a single charge, according to WLTP calculations. Even more of an improvement is shown for the Long Range AWD, going from 374 to 391 miles. We predict that the range of the Performance variation will also be increased. These improved numbers are mostly attributable to the design’s increased aerodynamics.
Uncertainty surrounds the release date of the upgraded Model 3 in the US. Other markets, including Australia and Europe, are already accepting orders for the Highland model from the automaker. Although the carmaker is expected to soon switch to the new model, North American Tesla websites are still showing off the previous one. According to a number of reports, the Model 3 Highland should arrive on our shores in the first half of 2024, most likely after the supply of current models has run out.
It’s only a hunch, but Tesla might have an excess of brand-new Model 3s from before the facelift that it wants to get rid of. In the upcoming weeks and months, expect some big discounts as a cursory glance at the Tesla Inventory reveals numerous factory-fresh vehicles for sale.
