The Honda Prologue, set to be available in early 2024, marks a significant step in Honda’s electrification strategy, symbolizing its commitment to a zero-emissions future. This all-electric midsize SUV boasts an anticipated EPA range rating of 300 miles, DC fast charging capabilities, and a design that combines style, sportiness, and spaciousness. The Prologue offers a tech-rich cabin featuring standard Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto™ compatibility, aiming to provide a seamless and connected driving experience. With a starting MSRP in the upper $40,000s, it offers various features and configurations, including single-motor and dual-motor options, and three trim levels – EX, Touring, and Elite.

Designed by a team in Los Angeles, the Prologue exhibits a neo-rugged design, reflecting a blend of modern aesthetics and adventure-ready features. It stands out with its sleek silhouette, available 21-inch wheels, and a range of eye-catching exterior colors. The interior prioritizes comfort, usability, and space, featuring high-quality materials, large buttons, and a two-tiered center console with class-leading storage capacity. The design and dimensions of the Prologue place it alongside the Honda Passport in the lineup, offering a spacious cabin and generous cargo space.

In terms of technology, the Prologue is equipped with two high-definition digital screens, a standard 11-inch digital driver instrumentation display, and an 11.3-inch touchscreen. It also features Google Maps with sophisticated route planning and recommended charging stations, enhancing the overall travel experience. The Elite trims add a 7×3-inch head-up display (HUD), and Touring and Elite models feature a Bose premium audio system, providing a clear and powerful listening experience for all occupants.

The Prologue is engineered for a sporty and engaging driving experience, with two-wheel drive models powered by a front-mounted single motor and the Elite featuring standard all-wheel drive with an additional rear motor. The dual motor arrangement generates an estimated 288 hp and 333 lb.-ft. of torque, ensuring responsive acceleration. The vehicle’s 85kWh lithium-ion battery pack can recharge 65 miles of range in about 10 minutes with DC fast charging.

Honda provides comprehensive charging solutions for Prologue customers, including three available charging packages with home and public charging options. The company has also entered a joint venture with six major automakers to create a high-speed brand-neutral charging network in the United States and Canada, targeting 30,000 charge points at 1,350 charging stations by 2030. The HondaLink® Smartphone App offers convenient access to available public charging networks and includes payment integration.

The Prologue is part of Honda’s broader electrification strategy, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050 and planning to introduce 30 new EVs globally by 2030. Honda has committed to transitioning to 100% zero-emission automobile sales by 2040 and has announced investments and initiatives, including the establishment of an EV Hub in Ohio, to support this goal. The Prologue, co-developed with GM, is a pivotal model in this journey, representing Honda’s vision for a sustainable and electrified future.
