Delhi has the highest number of electric buses in India. The city has 800 electric buses, which were supplied by Tata Motors.
The Delhi government plans to have 1,900 electric buses by the end of 2023.
By the end of 2025, the government aims to have over 8,000 electric buses on the roads of Delhi.
The Delhi government has ordered 2,026 electric buses by December 2025. PMI Electro will deliver 728 nine-metre and 570 12-metre electric buses. The e-buses are expected to save 14.50 lakh tonnes of CO2 in Delhi for the next 12 years.
The Centre supports electric vehicle (EV) deployment through the FAME II Scheme.
