In this video, I diagnose and solve an intermittent issue with my Keystone Cougar fifth-wheel trailer brakes. It turns out the electric brake wires that run through the two axles had, over the years of travel, been chaffed, and some of the copper was exposed. This led to them intermittently shorting to the frame ground, playing havoc with my Ram truck brake controller.
As a temporary repair, I cut the wires, then soldered in a piece of household extension cord and zip-tied it to the axle. In the future, I plan to run a new set of wires up through the trailer underbelly.
