The choices of electronic rider safety enhancements continue to expand. Many come from the automotive world, while others rely on sophisticated technology, such as radar, which is only available on higher-priced motorcycles. The Ride Vision 2 Pro from Rider Shield 360 brings alerts for blind spot encroachment and collision possibilities to every motorcycle and scooter.

Instead of radar detecting potential problems, the Ride Vision 2 Pro uses a different process. A control unit takes information from two high-definition cameras (front and rear), a speed sensor, and GPS. The software, which is motorcycle-specific, then determines if there is a threat and sends a signal to two LED indicators. You can install the LED indicators on your stock mirrors, or purchase the Bundle with Mirrors, which integrates the LEDs into the mirrors.

In addition to letting you know a vehicle is in your blind spot, the LCD alert you if someone is trying to pass you dangerously, following too closely, or you are riding too close to the vehicle ahead of you. The package also includes the ability to record three hours of video from the cameras and a video lock, in case of an accident.

Installation is considered a DIY effort. Tools required are basic—Torx T10 screwdriver, tape measure, zip-ties, and a cloth with some cleaning solution. However, it is for people comfortable with electronics, as everything is connected with wires. A password-protected app for iOS and Android devices is used to calibrate the unit and change settings via Bluetooth.

Rider Shield 360 CEO Tommy Weiss told us, “Ride Vision Pro 2 is more than a safety feature; it’s a life-saving companion for every motorcyclist. In a world where riders face the open road with their bodies exposed, our product instills confidence through scientific surrounding image sensors. It’s not just a technological marvel; it’s a critical tool that grants riders the precious seconds needed to avert potential dangers and collisions.”

The Ride Vision 2 Pro from Rider Shield 360 has a list price of $659. Add another $100 for the Bundle with Mirrors.
