Tacita, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer known for its exclusive electric models, has announced that their TACITA FORMULA CORSA racing team will be competing in the Dakar 2024 rally. They will be participating in the “Dakar Future – Mission 1000” category, which focuses on promoting decarbonizing technologies such as hydrogen engines, fully electric or hybrid vehicles. The company, based in Turin and led by Pierpaolo Rigo, has undergone rigorous testing since December 2022 and is confident in their leading role in terms of technology, innovation, and sustainability.
From January 5th to 19th, the team’s two Tacita Discanto motorcycles will traverse the desert, putting their impressive energy efficiency to the ultimate test in a real outdoor laboratory setting. The technology created by Tacita is designed, developed, produced, and evaluated in extreme environments before being released to the public.
TACITA FORMULA CORSA will compete with two motorcycles and a full team of skilled mechanics, as well as electric and electronic experts. Equipped with a new frame and a cutting-edge balance of battery packs for improved weight distribution, these bikes weigh 180 kg and can reach an intentionally limited top speed of 150 km/h.
Tacita’s unique technology includes a BATTERY SWAP system that allows for quick replacements with fully charged batteries during breaks in races, such as the “Dakar pace.” This system opens up possibilities for longer stages and a more sustainable future. But that’s not all that sets Tacita apart from other electric motorcycles. They also have a five-speed mechanical gearbox, liquid cooling for the engine and controller, and an advanced battery management system (BMS).
After an impressive debut in 2020, TACITA FORMULA CORSA is returning to the Dakar rally. The team made history by being the first to present an electric motorcycle in the competition. The success of their tests has motivated them to aim for full participation in the race by 2024. Not only will their vehicles be 100% electric, but the team will also have a completely “NO NOISE / NO CO2” racing area thanks to the T-STATION from TACITA. This mobile and self-sufficient energy solution utilizes solar panels, wind generators, and hydrogen to produce and store energy. This enables the team to power their race space and recharge the batteries of their rally bikes without relying on traditional fuel sources.
“Tacita’s is an exciting adventure – comments Luca Oddo, CEO of Tacita – And not only for the participation in the most difficult competition in the world such as the Dakar, but for the technological challenges that see us as protagonists. Like us, our investors had the courage, the spirit and the foresight to believe in a project that comes from far and that sees the values of sustainability and a better future merged into our brand. Innovation is our silent and discreet companion that accompanies us on this journey and that accompanies anyone riding a Tacita motorcycle,” concludes Oddo.
The Tacita Discanto has been chosen as the top model for 2025 by the Turin-based company, with their current production models for both on and off-road vehicles nearly sold out for 2024. This is an incredible achievement for a company established in 2011 by Pierpaolo Rigo and his wife Dinamaria Ollino – motorcycle enthusiasts who had a dream to turn into reality. As President and Vice President of Tacita, they have successfully made their mark in the industry.
“We founded TACITA in 2011 – comment Pierpaolo Rigo and Dinamaria Ollino, respectively President and Vice President of Tacita – Since then, all the commitment and effort have been the tireless engine of continuous research and development that have led to today’s technological results. There are many people who have collaborated with us for our project, all with great skills but above all with a great heart and to whom we want to say a big thank you. But what is there today for us is already in the past because together we are already exploring and developing new technologies and new ways to give the strongest emotions to those who love motorcycles, travel and adventure.
About TACITA
Tacita is a 100% Italian electric vehicle motorcycle manufacturer founded in 2011 in Poirino, in the province of Turin, by Pierpaolo Rigo and his wife Dinamaria Ollino to combine the riding pleasure that motorcyclists seek in a two-wheeler, both on urban and off-road roads, with the green philosophy.
Thanks to the experience in extreme competitions such as the Dakar and the passion of its two founders, the company has developed a 100% made in Italy technology that has as its strengths: the five-speed mechanical gearbox, liquid cooling for motor and controller, interchangeable batteries and finally the battery management system (BMS). With Tacita, travel becomes an important part of our daily experiences and innovation becomes the silent and discreet companion of every adventure.
