2024 St. Louis Supercross Fantasy Picks and Tips [8 Fast Facts]

The 2024 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship Series moves indoors on Saturday at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis. It’s round 12, so we have plenty of trends to consider. It’s not too hard to pick four of the top five for RMFantasySX.com leagues, but you have to select five riders, and then there’s the Wild Card, which can make or break your week. With that in mind, here are our 2024 St. Louis Supercross fantasy picks and tips.

1. St. Louis is the final Triple Crown round, but don’t let that sway you too much. Here’s why:

As you can see, there’s not much that can be gleaned from that, other than Anderson looks good for P4.

2. Despite a stumble on the rutted Seattle track last Saturday, Jett Lawrence remains the clear favorite. Jett has won three of the last four rounds, and there’s no reason to think he won’t get back on track as Supercross returns to the great indoors. Oh, and he swept the last Triple Crown.

3. Chase Sexton and Cooper Webb should complete the podium. Since the Arlington round, Sexton and Webb swap besting each other each round. Last week, Webb was ahead of Sexton, so this week I have to go with Sexton for P3 and P2. Over the previous four rounds, only two riders have been on the podium three times or more—Lawrence and Sexton.

4. Fascinating stat—only one set of three riders has been on the podium together twice in 2024. We have had 10 different podium combinations in any order over the 11 rounds. The duplicate trio, unexpectedly, is Cooper Webb, Eli Tomac, and Aaron Plessinger. Even more surprising, those three riders finished in that exact order at both Anaheim 2 and Arlington. It’s stats like this that make RMFantasySX.com picks difficult.

5. Ken Roczen has been a top-five lock. Roczen has been in the top five the last four weeks, along with Lawrence, Webb, and Sexton. Although Roczen is yet to finish in P4 this year—he has three P3s and two P5s—that’s where I have him in St. Louis.

6. Picking P5 is going to be a tough one. Eli Tomac is moving slowly in that direction on a 7-7-6 run. Jason Anderson and Aaron Plessinger each have six top-five finishes this year, barely above a 50 percent rate. Plessinger is doing well, scoring 8-6-4 in the last three rounds. Anderson is always unpredictable. What can you make of Anderson’s 10-9-6-4-10 scorecard over the previous five rounds? Hunter Lawrence is getting back into the discussion, having gone 11-7 since his return from injury. However, Anderson is the only rider in this group to finish in the top five in both Triple Crown races, so I have Anderson down for P5.

7. The Wild Card is P15, and that’s not easy. When you get down that far in the results, P15 can be a rider who doesn’t always make the main. There are probably 10 or more possibilities, so I’m going to narrow it down to three riders who are reliably in the Main—Shane McElrath, Adam Cianciarulo, and Benny Bloss. Cianciarulo’s last four races have been in the P15 range, going 12-12-15-14. Benny Bloss had a P15 in San Diego and is on a 17-17-10-14-22-12 run. However, my choice is Shane McElrath. McElrath has three P14 finishes, two P16s, and a P15 this year—he lives in the P15 neighborhood.
