The Triumph Rocket 3 R and GT models are getting updates, but not for 2024–we’re talking 2025 already. So, let’s take a look at the 2025 Triumph Rocket 3 Storm R and Rocket 3 Storm GT. With more power and a few other changes, the Storms are coming next month. Let’s check out what’s new.
- If you thought the 2458cc triple didn’t have enough power, Triumph has addressed your concerns. Triumph reworked the tuning of the longitudinally mounted inline-3 to give it an additional 15 horsepower, though the new 180-horsepower peak comes on at 7000 rpm, 1000 rpm later than on the previous Rocket 3 triple. You don’t have to wait for the additional three ft-lbs of torque. The new 166 ft-lb maximum comes on at the same 4000 rpm mark. Both horsepower and torque get most of their boost from the 5500 rpm mark on, though torque is also improved in the 3000 rpm range.
- New wheels greet Rocket 3 Storm buyers. The wheels are still cast aluminum, but they collectively weigh 2.2 pounds less than before. That will increase agility and reduce rolling resistance for faster acceleration.
- Blacked-out styling comes to the Rocket 3. The new Storm models get extra black details and finishes. There are three two-tone color schemes for the Rocket 3 Storm models. The R and the GT swap the position of the two colors for added distinction.
- The R and the GT continue to be differentiated by ergonomics. The motor and chassis are the same on both bikes, with the GT taking the cruiser-style role and the R offering a more upright sporting seating position. The GT’s handlebars are considerably swept back compared to the R, the foot controls are feet forward on the GT compared to standard position on the R, and the GT gets an adjustable backrest for the passenger. The GT also gets a taller flyscreen. Those changes result in the GT dipping below the 700-pound wet mark, six pounds lighter than the R, and sporting a price tag that is $800 higher.
- High-end components abound on the 2025 Triumph Rocket 3 lineup. Brembo calipers handle deceleration, front and rear. Suspension is by Showa with nearly full adjustability—the fork has fixed spring preload. Metzeler Cruisetec tires are standard. The IMU-informed rider aid suite is extensive, though a quickshifter is optional.
- Triumph Motorcycles Chief Commercial Officer gives us his pitch: “Known around the world as the ultimate muscle roadster, the Rocket has already achieved global sales of more than 18,000 since the 2.5-liter engine was introduced in 2019. That’s why the new Rocket 3 Storm R and GT have been given an impressive power and torque increase, even greater agility, and an even darker, moodier style and presence on the road.”
- The 2025 Triumph Rocket 3 Storm lineup gets a bit of a price bump from the 2023 models—there will be no 2024 Rocket 3s. The R has an MSRP of $24,995 (up $1100), and the GT’s price tag is $25,795 (up $1200).
