Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati) had a near perfect weekend at the Mugello circuit. After qualifying in second position, he went on to win both the Sprint on Saturday and the feature Race on Sunday. He was forced to start from 5th position on Sunday due to a grid penalty incurred during qualifying with Alex Marquez (Ducati).
In the Sprint race, behind Bagnaia, Marc Marquez (Ducati) and Pedro Acosta (GASGAS) finished second and third, respectively.
In Sunday’s main event, Bagnaia took the lead at the first corner and never relinquished it. Championship points leader Jorge Martin (Ducati) stalked Bagnaia from second position throughout the entire race until he was passed on the final lap by Enea Bastianini (Ducati) who went on to finish in second position just ahead of Martin in third.
Martin continues to have the championship points lead which is now 18 points over second place Bagnaia. For full results and points for Saturday’s Sprint race, visit the MotoGP site here. For full results and points for Sunday’s MotoGP race, visit the MotoGP site here.
