Game Over Cycles Slow Burn Inside Look [James Hetfield Ride]

Inspiration can come from a wide variety of sources. In the case of Poland-based Game Over Cycles (GOC) and LFANT Design, the motivation for this custom build was stirred by an automobile. The four-wheeler in question was named Slow Burn—a custom 1936 Auburn 852 SC Boattail Speedster that Metallica guitarist/singer James Hetfield built with noted American custom car designer and builder Rick Dore.

“Metallica has always been a huge artistic inspiration for me,” explains Game Over Cycles owner and founder Stanisław Myszkowski. “I am a fan of both the band’s music and the visuals that accompany their art. James Hetfield is a huge automotive fan. He collects and restores vintage cars, so we decided to combine these two worlds and build a motorcycle inspired by James’ vehicle.”

Game Over Cycles Slow Burn: Custom Motorcycle

GOC started with a Mikuni-fed American-made RevTech 115 cubic inch engine with a five-speed transmission and BLD clutch—all sourced from Custom Chrome Europe—and went wild from there. Right away, you’ll notice the GOC air filter cover that was directly inspired by Slow Burn. The V-twin was dropped into a custom GOC frame. That’s a GOC 30-inch car-styled front wheel. The rear air suspension system is by GOC, while Legend Air handles front suspension duties. Both ends are pneumatically adjustable, matching a Slow Burn feature.

GOC stayed in-house to fabricate the dramatic fenders and side cases—yep, it’s a bagger. The side cases are functional, and open remotely. The GOC exhaust is integrated seamlessly into the right side-case. Although this looks like a pure show bike, the 880-pound motorcycle is rideable and has an electronically retractable license plate. When it’s time to fill up the GOC custom fuel tank, a flap on the tank opens with electronic assistance to reveal the cap and filler neck.

Game Over Cycles Slow Burn: Art Deco Motorcycle

You’ll find yourself sitting on a seat by WBLine in Stobierna, Poland. The elegantly curved saddle uses the same leather that graced Slow Burn. From that low vantage point, you’ll look down and see Dakota Digital meters. Next, you’ll reach for grips on a GOC handlebar and operating GOC levers, and your feet will rest on Performance Machine footpegs. Performance Machine front brake calipers operate on GOC discs. Remember, this is a street-legal motorcycle, so it needs to stop.

The Game Over Cycles custom bagger has full lighting by Custom Chrome Europe. GOC took care of the nacelles, and the front end features a grille styled after the Slow Burn front end.

Novol paint covers the bodywork, and it was flawlessly applied using Anest Iwata equipment.

If you’re impressed with this Game Over Cycles build, you’re not alone. The bike awards at Daytona Bike Week, including hoisting Best of Show trophies at the prestigious Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show and the 35th Annual Boardwalk/Full Throttle Classic Bike Show.

The toughest challenge in a build like this is satisfying the source of your inspiration. Fortunately, after putting 7,000 man-hours into the project, Game Over Cycles earned these plaudits from Dore: “When we’ve seen the pictures of the motorcycle that Game Over built, we were knocked out. It’s an incredible vehicle, especially when you compare it to James’ car. The body, the wheels, color, even the levers—everything was right on with the Slow Burn. My hat’s off to Game Over. They did a great job, and the craftsmanship was out of this world.”

We suspect that the original designers of the 1936 Auburn 852 SC Boattail Speedster would say something similar about this incredible art deco bagger from Game Over Cycles.
