The new BMW F 900 GS has a new suspension upgrade package—the TracTive X-Treme Pro Suspension Kit. Although called a kit, the new X-Treme shock and fork internals are sold separately by TracTive, the Netherlands-based two- and four-wheel suspension gurus. Given that, let’s take a look at them individually.

BMW F 900 GS TracTive X-Treme Pro Suspension Kit: Made in Netherlands

The BMW F 900 GS X-Treme Pro shock is available in three flavors, with a list price of €999. There’s a standard-length version, a Long Travel version that adds three-quarters of an inch of travel, and a Low version that reduces ride height by a full inch. As you would expect from a premium shock, the TracTive X-Treme Pro unit is fully adjustable.

The X-Treme Pro shock has a 46mm piston, which allows for high- and low-speed compression damping adjustment and rebound damping. The shock can be had with manual spring-preload adjustment, or the Hydraulic Preload Adjuster that changes the spring-preload in 0.4-inch increments is available as a €250 option. A hydraulic end-stop on the X-Treme Pro shock eliminates harsh bottoming.

Like the shock, the TracTive X-Treme Front Cartridge kit for the BMW F 900 GS is available in three heights to complement the shock, and has an MSRP of €1249. The fork features a rebound and damping adjustment clicker on the fork leg caps. Inside, there are 35mm pistons for the closed cartridge configuration. Spring preload is adjustable over a range of nearly a half-inch.BMW F 900 GS TracTive X-Treme Pro Suspension Kit: black-and-white option

The damping range of adjustment is intended to satisfy street and off-road riders. The TracTive X-Treme fork kit and shock components are CNC-machined from appropriate materials for the job; this allows for a two-year warranty for the fully serviceable units. If you don’t think the orange accents blend nicely on your BMW F 900 GS, a Black & White Edition of each can be had for an additional €40 for each end.
