The penultimate round of the MotoGP championship series was held at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia this weekend.
On Saturday, Jorge Martin (Ducati) won the Sprint race ahead of Marc Marquez (Ducati) in second and Enea Bastianini (Ducati) in third. Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati), trying to stay close to Martin on championship points, crashed out of the race (unhurt).
On Sunday, Bagnaia came back to win the full GP race ahead of Martin in second and Bastianini in third. The first few laps of Sunday’s race featured an incredible back-and-forth battle between Martin and Bagnaia, with Bagnaia ultimately holding onto the lead.
Due to the flooding in Valencia, Spain last week, Valencia will not host the final round of the series this year. Organizers are attempting to secure the Barcelona track in its place, but full details have yet to be announced.
Martin has a 24 point lead in the championship over Bagnaia, and he simply needs to avoid catastrophe at the final round to secure his first MotoGP title.
