2025 SSR SR140RB.

Based in Southern California, SSR Motorsports has carved out a niche as a maker of special-purpose pit bikes, in addition to its off-road, street-legal, and side-by-side offerings. New for 2025 is the four-model R-Series of pit bikes—the SR140RB, SR140R, SR125RB, and SR125R. They replace the TR and TX series pit bikes from SSR Motorsports.

  1. The 2025 SSR R-Series pit bikes are available in 125 and 140 engine sizes. The motors are carburetor-fed horizontal four-strokes. The 140 is slightly undersquare, with the 125 perfect square. SSR claims a maximum output of 9.1 horsepower for the 140 and 8.8 horses for the 125, with both peaking at 7500 rpm.

  1. Electric starting is a standard feature. All four engines also have kickstarter is at the ready.

  1. The motors are air- and oil-cooled. Yes, that’s an oil cooler mounted about the valve cover.

  1. A four-speed transmission is common to all four models, with a shift pattern that puts neutral at the bottom. The wet multiplate clutch is cable actuated.

  1. The RB models are the “big wheel” versions. You’ll find a 14-/12-inch wheel combo on the standard R models, with the RBs sporting a 17-/14-inch wheelset. The SSR R-Series pit bikes run on Yuanxing tires, a Chinese company that has been making tires since 1996.

  1. All four 2025 R-Series pit bikes share the same basic chassis. However, the 140s get adjustable suspension at both ends. The seat height on the standard models is 30.1 inches, with the big wheel RBs delivering a 33.8-inch seat height.

  1. The plastic is all-new. The contemporarily styled white plastic on all four R-Series motorcycles contrasts with the bright red frame.
  1. SSR Motorsports offers a 30-day parts-only limited warranty. We have been to SSR Motorsports’ cavernous warehouse just off the Santa Ana Freeway in Santa Fe Springs, and it has a huge supply of spares.
  1. You won’t pay more the two grand for one of the 2025 SSR R-Series pit bikes. Pricing starts at $1699 for the standard SR125R. Add another $100, and you can get the big wheel SR125RB. Throw in yet another $100, and you have the price of the SR140R. Grab just one more hundred-dollar bill, and the flagship SR140RB is yours at $1999.
