From a company steeped in history comes the 2025 Royal Enfield Classic 650. Based on the familiar 650 Twin platform that has yielded the INT, Continental GT, Shotgun, Super Meteor, and most recently, the Bear, the new Classic 650 is the most retro of them all. So, let’s don our spectacles and take a closer look.
- Royal Enfield CEO B Govindarajan explains the rationale behind the 2025 Royal Enfield Classic 650: “The Classic is what keeps us rooted and real to our philosophy of pure motorcycling. The new Classic 650 not only upholds and embodies this spirit, it serves it up in a double measure on our world-class 650 Twin platform. We’ve stayed true to the Classic’s purpose and character, and retained its quintessential style, design, and elegance. With its fine craftsmanship, majestic road presence, and refined powertrain, we believe this motorcycle will resonate deeply with our customers.”
- The Classic’s frame is shared with the Super Meteor cruiser and Shotgun bobber. Wheel travel from the traditional fixed-damping suspension is 4.7 inches in the front and 3.5 inches in the rear—identical to the Shotgun and close to the Super Meteor. However, the Classic gets its own traditional fork with steel covers. The shocks are on full display and allow spring-preload adjustment.
- The 2025 Royal Enfield Classic 650 is a big-wheel model. While modernists might consider the 19-/18-inch wheelset to be indicative of an adventure bike, these hoop sizes tap into nostalgia. The wire-spoke wheels are shod with Indian-sourced MRF NyloHigh-FN rubber.
- A long exhaust system with dual peashooter mufflers evokes the past. Power output claims remain identical to the Super Meteor and Shotgun, which use the same air-cooled SOHC twin with two valves per cylinder.
- While the 2025 Royal Enfield Classic 650 has a floating solo seat, passenger footpegs are standard. Should you want to bring someone along, a pillion seat is optional.
- Long fenders fit the Classic’s style intentions. Fender supports front and rear enhance the nostalgic look, and are color-coordinated with the frame.
- Round is a recurring theme. You’ll find it in the dash, headlight, mirrors, turn signals, and taillight. The dash is built into the headlight’s nacelle.
- The wide swept-back handlebars sport oval grips and basic switchgear.
- With mid-mount footpegs, the 2025 Royal Enfield Classic has a natural, upright seating position.
- As is Royal Enfield’s practice, there are many high-quality paint options. Vallam Red and Bruntingthorpe Blue are available at the standard £6499 MSRP. Teal runs another £100, with Black Chrome the most expensive at £6799.
- While the 2025 Royal Enfield Classic is coming to America, we don’t have a price or arrival date yet. It’s still absent from Royal Enfield’s US website, so be patient. We will have a test of the bike soon, however.
