The popular junior partner in the Triumph Speed Twin firm is back with chassis updates to improve handling and comfort. The 64-horsepower motor that cranks out 59 ft-lbs of torque at just 3800 rpm is unchanged. There are quite a few things to know about, including more contemporary styling, so let’s get up close and personal with the 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 900.
- The front end is all-new. This includes the fork, wheels, brakes, and tire—quite a list.
- The traditional KYB fork is replaced by an inverted Marzocchi setup. The fork remains non-adjustable. The rake is tucked in 0.2 degrees to a sporty 24.9 degrees.
- New cast aluminum wheels are shod with Michelin Road Classic tires. The Speed Twin 900 retains its 18-/17-inch wheelset and tire sizes. Previously, Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp rubber was employed.
- That’s a new caliper and a larger disc in the front. Replacing the standard-mounted Brembo caliper and 310mm disc is a radially mounted Triumph-branded caliper and a 320mm disc.
- New Marzocchi shocks match up with the Marzocchi inverted fork. Triumph reduced the travel by 0.4 inches in the move to the piggyback-reservoir Marzocchi shocks. The aluminum swingarm is also new, offering less weight and more rigidity. The wheelbase is reduced by about half an inch to 56.5 inches.
- The 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 900 still has a bench seat, though it’s a new one that is slimmer. The seat is also a bit taller to give the rider more legroom. Seat height is increased by 0.6 inches to 30.7 inches, though an accessory low seat drops the height back down to an even 30 inches. The footpegs are also repositioned to open up the ergonomics.
- The frame has been narrowed in the rear to support a reduced-width fender and smaller taillight.
- Lean-sensitivity is added to the traction control and ABS. As before, there are two ride modes—Road and Rain.
- A new hybrid TFT/LCD dash greets the rider. Info displayed includes rev count, gear position, speed, and ride mode. Bluetooth connectivity is optional, as are heated grips and new-this-year cruise control.
- While retaining a foot in the retro class, the revised styling of the 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 900 is decisively more contemporary. In addition to the inverted fork, there’s a new headlight with a cleaner mounting. The fuel tank is now sculpted. The covers for the clutch, alternator, and front sprocket are new. The muffler is updated in black. The side covers and throttle body covers feature a forward-slanted angular look. The footpegs and heel guards are also updated. Lighting is all-LED, and there’s a USB-C port.
- Triumph Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent offers his assessment: “This new Speed Twin 900 styling has evolved to be sleeker and more dynamic while still retaining the classic design cues that deliver that timeless style. The bike is more agile and easier to maneuver, too, as we’ve made changes to the chassis and specification that all add up to make a big difference.”
- Triumph has kept the price of the 2025 Speed Twin 900 below $10k. With all these changes, the list price only increases by $100—impressive. Three colors are available—Pure White, Phantom Black, and Aluminum Silver—with the usual premium styling. Dealers should be getting the new 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 900 in February.
