BMW’s midsize naked standard sportbike is back with mechanical, ergonomic, and electronics updates. The 2025 BMW F 900 R is also lighter than its predecessor. Let’s see how the new F 900 R got to where it is.
- The 2025 BMW F 900 R has a new fork. The inverted 43mm fork is now fully adjustable rather than non-adjustable, which makes a big difference. The shock is unchanged—it has adjustable rebound damping and spring preload. As before, a semi-active shock is optional.
- The F 900 R gets new die-cast aluminum wheels that are lighter. The two new wheels shave four pounds off the R’s weight. The choice of tires has not been announced.
- A new battery reduces the weight of the R by 1.75 pounds.
- The 2025 BMW F 900 R takes a sportier turn in two ways. Dynamic mode, which features a more aggressive throttle response, is standard and has new settings. Also, The ergonomic triangle moves the rider closer to the front wheel. This sportier riding position was attained by altering the relative position of the seat, grips, and footpegs. A new optional Sport seat moves the rider an inch higher, with the seat two-position adjustable.
- The F 900 R gets electronic aids to increase traction during acceleration and deceleration. Standard electronic aids include cornering-aware traction control and ABS. Further traction improvement capabilities include electronically controlled engine compression braking and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC). DBC knows when you’re braking hard and shuts off the throttle.
- The rear of the 2025 BMW F 900 R has been slimmed down. The LED taillights and turn indicators are integrated for a cleaner appearance.
- Up front, the panels on each side of the headlight match the rest of the bike’s paint.
- A sharp-looking Akrapovič muffler is optional. Other goodies available from BMW include milled footpegs, axle protectors, lockable soft side cases, a chin spoiler, and a passenger seat cover.
- There are three versions of the 2025 BMW F 900 R, each offering different colors. Snapper Rocks Blue is standard. The Triple Black Package ($235) is purely cosmetic—Black Storm Metallic paint with Granite Grey Metallic Matte radiator cowls and middle-tank cover, and White Aluminum Metallic Matte wheel. The Style Sport Package adds Racing Blue Metallic paint, red wheels, three-color plastic and graphics, a chin spoiler, and bar-end mirrors for $695.
- The price of the 2025 BMW F 900 R remains less than $10k. The MSRP sits at $9690.
