Founded in 1959 as a company that manufactured chutes for drag racers, Simpson Performance Products began manufacturing helmets in 1979 with the iconic RX-1. The Simpson motorcycle helmet lineup grew to include full-face, modular, and open-face models. The new Simpson Xcursion Bandit brings the brand, now owned by Holly Performance Brands, into the adventure riding genre with an all-new helmet.
“Simpson has always been about empowering drivers and riders to safely take on that next challenge,” Holley Performance Brands Senior Vice President Safety & Racing Brian Appelgate explains. “Adventure riders are a growing and increasingly younger set of enthusiasts, and they’re looking for gear that fits their attitude and style. It’s another way we’re driving our mission forward and bringing more performance, safety, fun, and excitement to enthusiasts everywhere.”
The Simpson Xcursion Bandit features the bold, angular styling that defines Simpson helmets. It’s available with a Tricomposite shell or, for a $225 premium, carbon fiber. Three shell sizes cover the sizing range from XS to XXL. The helmet earns DOT and ECE 22.06 certification.
Features include a removable peak, wide eyeport, three-position chin vents, always open cheek vents, closable top vents, a Pinlock 120 MaxVision insert, and a Comfort Max soft interior liner. Unusual for an adventure helmet, it includes a drop-down interior shield that can be swapped out for different colors and shades. The Xcursion Bandit is compatible with the Cardo/Simpson Packtalk Edge Communication System ($390 MSRP).
The list price for the base Simpson Xcursion Bandit is $500 in Armor color. Add $25 for White or Black, and the Carbon Fiber iteration has an MSRP of $725.
