The new Indian PowerPlus 112 engine marks a technological evolution of Indian’s lineup, bringing forth a combination of enhanced power, advanced technology, and race-tested reliability for select 2025 models. The Indian PowerPlus 112 brings liquid-cooling to the retro-styled Chieftain and Roadmaster lines for the first time, as it is being deployed in the new Indian Chieftain PowerPlus and Roadmaster PowerPlus touring motorcycles.

The new 112 cubic inch engine is based on the PowerPlus 108, with development by the Indian Motorcycle Racing team, and it contributed to Troy Herfoss’s 2024 King of the Baggers Championship. The standout feature of the PowerPlus 112 is its performance metrics.

Indian went with a larger bore rather than stroking the PowerPlus 108 to get it up to 112. So, it gets new pistons and an ECU tuned for additional performance. The larger displacement contributes to a peak output of 126 horsepower and 133 ft-lbs of torque. Compared to the PowerPlus 108, the 112 is up four horses and five ft-lbs. There will also be Stage 1 intake and exhaust kits, though they are focused on sound and aesthetics rather than power output enhancement.

The PowerPlus 112 comes with an updated electronic suite of rider aids. The 112 has a six-axis IMU, lean-sensitive ABS with electronically linked braking, lean-sensitive traction control, electronic engine braking, and hill hold control. Radar steps in for blind spot warning, tailgating warning, and rear collision warning on the 112-equipped Indians. These features help newer and experienced touring riders alike.

In addition to powering the 2025 Indian Chieftain PowerPlus and Roadmaster PowerPlus, the new PowerPlus 112 will be an upgrade in the contemporary Challenger and Pursuit lineups, which will continue to offer base models with the PowerPlus 108 motor.

The introduction of the PowerPlus 112 engine signifies Indian’s commitment to bring liquid-cooling to its heritage design models. The 112’s accompanying electronic rider aid suite brings Indian up to speed in the touring and bagger categories.
