Jorge Martin’s luck, along with that of his employer Aprilia, has gone from bad to worse. Already recovering from hand and foot injuries suffered during pre-season testing, Martin was expected to participate in the opening round this weekend in Thailand. That won’t be happening, now.

Martin has now suffered new, complex injuries as the result of an accident he suffered while training on a supermoto bike in Spain. The press release below somewhat vaguely describes his injuries. MD now understands that he has damaged his left wrist, broken bones in his right hand and fractured his left heel.

Here is the press release from Aprilia Racing.

Noale, 24 February 2025 –

Jorge Martin suffered a complex fracture of the radius, some carpal bones on the left side and an ipsilateral calcaneal fracture during a training session.

After a surgical consultation, it was decided to proceed with surgery, which will take place tomorrow at the Dexeus Clinic in Barcelona to stabilize the fractures of the radius and the left scaphoid.

Martin will miss the Thailand Grand Prix and recovery times will be determined after the surgery. Lorenzo Savadori will replace Martin in Thailand.
