Benda Motorcycles isn’t just a new name in the United States. This Chinese motorcycle company was founded by Hangzhou Saturn Power Technology Co. in Hangzhou less than a decade ago. Benda focuses on inexpensive cruisers with distinctive styling and surprising technology. Benda motorcycles are imported into this country by Keeway America, which also brings us Benelli motorcycles and Keeway scooters, heightening Keeway’s profile here. We’ve already looked at the 2025 Benda Napoleon Bob 500, and now it’s time to direct our attention to the 2025 Benda Chinchilla 500.
- The 2025 Benda Chinchilla 500 is a retro-modern cruiser with mixed styling cues. The retro features include fat tires, bobbed fenders, twin shocks, and a peanut-style 4.2-gallon fuel tank, while the inverted fork and liquid-cooled V-twin adds contemporary touches. The unique headlight cowling defies era pigeonholing, and it’s an LED, like all of the bike’s lighting. Benda describes the Chinchilla 500’s distinctive look as “avant-garde”.
- The 476cc motor likes to rev. The 47-horsepower peak comes at 8800 rpm, and the torque tops out at 31 ft-lbs with the SOHC V-twin spinning at 7600 rpm. Utilizing a six-speed gearbox, the 2025 Benda Chinchilla is good for a top speed of 90 mph. Traction control is part of the power package, and the clutch has a slipper function.
- Suspension travel is a mixed bag. The modern inverted fork supplies a generous 4.7 inches of travel, while the laid-down shocks are stingy at 2.4 inches. The only suspension adjustment is spring preload on the shocks.
- The fat 16-inch tires should help out the suspension a bit. We’re talking a 180mm rear and 150mm front—big boys. CST supplies the rubber for the 2025 Benda Chinchilla 500.
- Dual-channel ABS reduces the likelihood of skidding when stopping. Disc brakes take care of deceleration at both ends, with Benda-branded calipers getting the job done. The front caliper for the single disc is radially mounted.
- A TFT dash keeps the rider appraised. The readout includes speed, odometer, fuel level, and other essential metrics.
- Benda describes the 2025 Chinchilla 500 as “authentic, powerful, unstoppable.” We’ll have to wait for a review to determine how accurate that is. In the meantime, the 2025 Benda Chinchilla 500 runs $5999. That undercuts the price of the Honda Rebel 500 and Kawasaki Eliminator by about 10 percent.
