We have drooled over the Euro version of this motorcycle for a couple of years, and now we are getting the 2025 Honda CB750 Hornet. The Hornet is going up against well-established competition, including the CFMoto 800NK, Kawasaki Z650, Suzuki GSX-8S, Triumph Trident 660, and Yamaha MT-07. These middleweight naked bikes and streetfighters offer similar performance, pricing, and versatility, making them direct competitors in this segment. As a bonus, we’re getting an updated Hornet. So, let’s get buzzing with the Fast Facts on what Honda calls a ‘middleweight streetfighter’ that is also suited to commuting and ‘everyday practicality.’
- The 2025 Honda CB750 Hornet is powered by the 755cc parallel twin introduced to America in the Transalp adventure bike. As a reminder, the engine has a bore and stroke of 87.0mm x 63.5mm, a 270-degree crankshaft, 46mm throttle bodies, and the same Nickel-Silicon Carbide cylinder coating used on the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP and CRF450R. Honda’s unique SOHC Unicam valve train is used—the intake valves are directly actuated by the camshaft via cam lobes, while the exhaust valves are operated through rocker arms.
- There are three preset modes for the ride-by-wire electronic rider aids system and a customizable User mode. The rider chooses between Sport, Standard, and Rain modes. Each mode adjusts three power, two engine-braking, and three traction/wheelie control levels. In the User mode, you set each of those three parameters as the rider sees fit. The integrated traction/wheelie control function can be completely disabled at the rider’s behest. All of this is set up via a five-inch TFT dash that includes Honda RoadSync for interaction with your smartphone via Bluetooth.
- The six-speed transmission and clutch is a conventional design with the latest features. Honda is keeping things simple on the Hornet, rather than deploying the new E-Clutch automatic clutch used on the latest version of the CB650R and CBR650R. The Hornet’s clutch is fully manual with assist-and-slipper functions for safer downshifts and a lighter pull at the lever. A quickshifter is standard.
- The geometry of the 2025 Honda CB750 Hornet’s steel diamond frame is sporty. At 25 degrees of rake, the fork is nicely tucked in, and the trail is tight at 3.9 inches. The wheelbase is a moderate 55.9 inches, and the Hornet tips the scales at a competitive 422 pounds with the four-gallon fuel tank filled.
- The ergonomics balance sport and comfort. A wide handlebar is matched to slightly rear-set footpegs. The seat height is an approachable 31.3 inches.
- Showa handles the suspension for the 2025 Honda CB750 Hornet. The fork is an inverted 41mm Separate Function Fork Big Piston unit, and the remote reservoir shock has linkage assistance. Travel at both ends is 5.1 inches. The only adjustability is shock spring-preload.
- The 17-inch wheels are cast aluminum and shod with Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tires. The rear is a 160/60, and the front tire is a 120/70.
- Radially mounted Nissin four-piston calipers grasp 296mm discs. In the rear, a single-piston caliper operates on a 240mm disc. ABS is standard.
- Although the 2025 Honda CB750 Hornet is considered a naked upright sport bike, it has plenty of plastic. Between the large cowling for the LED headlight, large radiator shrouds, and a fuel tank that Honda insiders tell us “takes inspiration from the shape of a hornet’s wing,” you’re getting a fair amount of wind protection.
- The 2025 Honda CB750 Hornet has a list price of $7999. The price aggressively undercuts the 2025 versions of the CFMoto 800NK ($8699), Suzuki GSX-8S ($8699), Triumph Trident 660 ($8595), and Yamaha MT-07 ($8699). However, the Hornet is $150 more than the Kawasaki Z650 ABS. You can choose between Matte Black Metallic and Matte Pearl White. Check with your local Honda dealer for availability.
