The 2025 Pro Motocross Championship Series moves to Northern California for the Hangtown Motocross Classic at Prairie City SVRA in Rancho Cordova. The big change from last week is the likely loss of defending Pro Motocross 450MX Champion Chase Sexton from the starting gate. Sexton injured himself in a Moto 1 crash at the Fox Raceway National, and there’s no timeline for his return. So, with the champ sidelined, let’s look at the 2025 Hangtown Motocross Classic fantasy picks for RMFantasyMX.com players.

2025 Hangtown Motocross Classic Fantasy Picks and Tips: Jett Lawrence

  1. Jett Lawrence already looks unbeatable. Yes, he was challenged by Tomac in Moto 2 at Fox Raceway. However, by the end of the race, Tomac had waved the white flag and ended up 11 seconds behind Jett. You can pick whoever you like, but going with anyone other than Jett is high risk.

  1. Although Hangtown is Eli Tomac’s track, don’t expect more than a runner-up finish from him. An argument can be made that Tomac could win a moto. However, it’s going to take a 1-1 from Tomac, and that’s a lot to ask. Tomac is a solid P2 choice.
2025 Hangtown Motocross Classic Fantasy Picks and Tips: Justin Cooper and Cooper Webb

  1. Justin Cooper, Hunter Lawrence, and Aaron Plessinger will fight it out for the last podium position as they fill out the top five. Cooper went 2-8 after making the wrong tire choice for the second moto, so he had the best finish of the trio. Hunter was the most consistent of the three, going 3-4. Plessinger showed podium speed with 5-3. This early on, I’m going with speed, so it looks like they’ll finish in alphabetical order—Cooper, (Hunter) Lawrence, Plessinger.

  1. The Wild Card is a tough one—P15! We can throw out the outliers, such as Cooper Webb (37-7 last week) and Malcolm Stewart (12-35). So, let’s look at who had a moto finish at least within one spot of P15. We have Coty Schock (15-37), Romain Pape (23-15), Grant Harlan (14-11), Derek Drake (17-14), Harri Kullas (16-21), and Derek Kelly (30-16). The most consistent rider is Drake, so he’s my Wild Card pick.
