2025 Southwick National Motocross Fantasy Picks: 8 Fast Facts

After a week off, the 2025 Pro Motocross Championship Series is back. Round 5 is at The Wick 338 in Southwick, Massachusetts, and that means sand. While the top five have been easy to pick this year, getting the top five riders in the proper order remains a challenge. Let’s refresh your memory, and give you some 2025 Southwick National Motocross fantasy picks for your RMFantasyMX leagues.

<yoastmark class=

  1. The same five riders have been in the top five at the four opening rounds. That means we’re going to try to sort out the order for Jett Lawrence, Eli Tomac, Aaron Plessinger, Hunter Lawrence, and Justin Cooper.
  1. Jett Lawrence has won the overall at the first four rounds. He has won at Southwick in the past, so he’s the easy pick to win—there’s just not a lot to say about it.

<yoastmark class=

  1. Eli Tomac is second overall in career moto wins at The Wick 338. Tomac’s eight moto wins put him right behind Ricky Carmichael, who won 13 motos at Southwick. Tomac is tied with Jeff Stanton for moto wins, though Tomac’s three overalls at Southwick leave him one shy of Stanton’s total. Tomac knows The Wick 338, but he hasn’t beaten Jett yet this year for the overall. This may be Tomac’s best chance for an overall win in 2025, so this is the time to pick him. I have him down for P2, however, due to Jett’s speed and consistency this year.

<yoastmark class=

  1. Picking the last spot on the podium is tricky—no doubt about it. Plessinger and Hunter both have a P2 and a P3 finish this year. However, Plessinger has two P4s to go with that, compared to a pair of P5s for Hunter. That gives Plessinger the edge, so I have Plessinger in P3 and Hunter in P4.
Hunter Lawrence - Honda CRF450R
Hunter Lawrence.
  1. Justin Cooper and Hunter Lawrence both have two P5 overalls. Hunter has added two podiums to that, while Cooper has only been on the podium once—a P3 at the Hangtown Classic. I have already slotted Hunter for P4, so that means P5 for Cooper.
Justin Cooper - Yamaha YZ4540F
Justin Cooper.
  1. Keep in mind that the order of the top five has not repeated this year. My selection of Jett, Tomac, Plessinger, Hunter, and Cooper, in that order, hasn’t happened yet. I know, I’m grasping at straws, but that’s all you can do when it’s this close.

  1. The Wild Card is P15, so any pick will be a longshot—with one exception. Four riders have finished in P15 this year at the four rounds—Malcolm Stewart, Lorenzo Locurcio, Coty Schock, and Grant Harlan. Six riders have overalls within one spot of P15—Derek Drake, Valentine Guillod, Mitchell Harrison, Harry Kulas, Derek Kelly, and Colt Nichols. That list of 10 riders, only Nichols has finished in the P14 to P16 range more than once, and he has done it three times. Nichols is my Wild Card for P15.
  1. The Southwick National is in the Eastern time zone, so West Coasters will have to get up early to watch Race Day Live. Check our 2025 Pro Motocross Television Schedule for viewing details.
