The 2026 Yamaha YZ125 is the recipient of a few updates. The intake boot design and the intake are new. Yamaha claims “a more seamless connection and smoother airflow.” Additionally, Yamaha has given the YZ125 new CDI settings. A Yamaha insider tells us the goal is a “more linear power delivery and enhanced rideability.” To match the changes to the intake and CDI, the Keihin PWK38S carburetor has been rejetted accordingly.

Otherwise, the chassis and kickstart two-stroke motor are unchanged. The Bridgestone Battlecross X20 tires are back, as is the KYB suspension. The twin-spar frame is unchanged, as is the removable aluminum subframe. Yamaha continues to allow ergonomic customization via two handlebar mounting positions.
The 2026 Yamaha YZ125’s price is $100 higher than last year. If you are willing to spend an additional $200, you get the 70th Anniversary Edition and its historic White and Red livery. The standard Team Yamaha Blue version will be at dealers in August. You will have to wait until October to get the 70th Anniversary Edition. We last reviewed the YZ125 in 2018, so we’re long overdue for a ride on the tiddler.
