Inspired by the Italian company’s success at the Africa Eco Race rally-raid and the Italian Motorally Championship, Aprilia has upgraded the Tuareg 660 to Rally status. The 2025 Aprilia Tuareg Rally 660 features technical and cosmetic upgrades from the standard version, with Aprilia working with GCorse. Let’s see what the Rally has to offer.
- We will start off with a few words from Aprilia Racing ace Jacopo Cerutti: “The goal was to make it as similar as possible to the bike with which we won the Africa Eco Race, and I can say we succeeded! The Tuareg was already an excellent starting point for problem-free off-road riding, but with the Rally version, we’ve taken it a step further, coming very close to a full rally-raid bike. With the right tires, it can easily take you over the desert dunes. My experience has been particularly useful in providing feedback on the electronics, leading to the creation of a new engine map that delivers quicker and more decisive throttle response, and in the chassis adjustments, with a fork that offers better support and a shock absorber that absorbs potholes at speed more effectively, improving the bike’s overall stability.”
- The 2025 Aprilia Tuareg Rally has its own engine mapping. The short-stroke 659cc twin still puts out 80 horsepower at 9250 rpm, and the torque peaks at 52 ft-lbs at 6500 rpm. However, the tuning for the Rally allows for a snappier throttle response to help the rider lift the front wheel over obstacles.
- A 52mm throttle body is new—up from 48mm—and shared across the Tuareg lineup. Additionally, the generator is new and lighter this year for improved throttle response.
- An SC-Project exhaust system cuts weight and has a purposeful look. The muffler is titanium with an end cap enclosing a 60mm outlet. In this configuration, the 2025 Aprilia Tuareg Rally still meets Euro 5+ standards.
- The KYB suspension on the Tuareg Rally has its own internals. Although the fork and shock are the same models as on the standard Tuareg, the Rally gets different springs and damping adjustments. The springs are stiffer and single-rate, so the Rally sits higher in the stroke for longer effective travel. The seat height is increased, and Aprilia allows that the ride is less comfortable—ah, the sacrifices we make for performance.
- A taller seat gives the rider more legroom and makes transitions to standing easier. Between the firmer suspension and taller seat, the seat height on the Tuareg Rally sits at 35.9 inches, 0.8 inches taller than the standard Tuareg.
- Ergal tube-type rims with wire spokes to aluminum hubs are employed on the 2025 Aprilia Tuareg Rally. Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires are standard.
- The skidplate has been beefed up. The aluminum is thicker, and the protection for the motor expanded.
- The front fender is a two-piece design. The front half is high mounted, while the rear arc hugs the 21-inch front wheel.
- Aluminum reinforcement has been added to the plastic handguards.
- The kickstand gets a larger footprint. This adds stability when parked, as the higher ride height means the Tuareg Rally will be leaning over a bit more when on the kickstand.
- The bodywork is new and streamlined. As with some of the other features, this is carried over to all the Tuareg models. A red frame is standard, featuring Rally race replica graphics inspired by the Dakar Rally bike. Additionally, the fork legs, rims, and handlebar are anodized gold for a distinctive look.
- After all these changes, the Rally weighs 11 pounds less than the standard Tuareg. Curb weight with the 4.8-gallon fuel tank filled is 439 pounds.
- The list price of the 2025 Aprilia Tuareg Rally 660 is $13,799. That’s a $1300 premium over the standard Tuareg 660. Check with your local Aprilia dealer for availability.
