Royal Enfield upcoming electric motorcycle to be its most powerful

Royal Enfield, the iconic Indian motorcycle brand known for its timeless designs and rugged charm, is gearing up to make a big splash in the electric motorcycle world. And not with a quiet whimper—its first performance-oriented electric model is set to become the most powerful motorcycle the company has ever produced.

According to details reported by ZigWheels, the upcoming electric adventure bike that could become the brand’s first electric Himalayan ADV model will pack a massive 14 kWh battery. That puts the bike squarely in the same battery capacity league with established electric motorcycles from brands like Zero Motorcycles and LiveWire. The large capacity suggests a serious focus on range and performance.

Performance figures have pegged the motor at around 75 kW, or just over 100 horsepower. That’s more power than any current Royal Enfield, including the company’s 650cc twin-cylinder gas bikes. In other words, the company isn’t just making its first electric adventure motorcycle, it’s making its most powerful motorcycle, period.

Much of that power comes from a new motor developed in collaboration with Stark Future, a high-performance electric dirt bike company in which Royal Enfield’s parent company, Eicher Motors, owns a stake. With Stark’s help, the project has taken shape on a brand-new platform that could serve as the base for multiple upcoming electric models from the company – a popular move in the electric motorcycle industry.

Despite its roots in classic design, Royal Enfield seems to be embracing modernity where it counts. That 14 kWh battery won’t just help deliver strong performance – it also promises real-world range that riders can rely on, especially important in an ADV-style bike meant for longer treks. And if the build quality and feel match the company’s current Himalayan, this could be one of the more rugged and practical electric motorcycles to hit a market currently suffering from a dearth of adventure options.

Royal Enfield’s urban-focused Flying Flea will likely beat an electric Himalayan to market—the only race it could best it in!

Interestingly, despite initially being revealed as a development project back in 2023, this likely won’t be the first electric Royal Enfield to roll out of the factory. That title will go to the upcoming Flying Flea, a smaller urban commuter inspired by the WWII-era Royal Enfield paratrooper bike. But while the Flea is aimed at city streets, the electric Himalayan is gunning for open roads and dirt trails alike.

And if the specs and development trajectory hold, it won’t just be Royal Enfield’s first high-performance e-moto – it could be a legitimate contender in the growing world of premium electric motorcycles.
