If you read our review of the Triumph Tiger Sport 800 and you’re the kind of rider who likes naked, upright sportbikes, you were probably thinking, “I’d like a Trident version of that sport-tourer.” Well, Triumph was reading your mind, and we now have the 2026 Triumph Trident 800, which is heavily based on the Tiger Sport 800. Let’s go over the details.
- The triple in the 2026 Triumph Trident 800 has identical numbers to the Tiger Sport 800. It puts out 113 horsepower at 10,750 rpm and 62 lb-ft of torque at 8500 rpm. The six-speed transmission gets a quickshifter, and the clutch has assist and slipper functions.
- There are three power modes—Sport, Road, and Rain. Each mode changes the throttle response and cornering-aware traction control.
- Curb weight with the 3.7-gallon fuel tank filled is 437 pounds. The geometry is aggressively sporty, with a 55.3-inch wheelbase matched to 24.5 degrees of rake and 4.3 inches of trail. Michelin Road 5 tires are mounted on 17-inch cast aluminum wheels.
- The Showa suspension on the 2026 Triumph Trident 800 is almost fully adjustable. You can’t change the fork’s spring preload or the shock’s compression damping. The fork separates damping from springs, with a large-diameter damper.
- Triumph-branded calipers handle deceleration chores. The 310mm discs in the front are slowed by radially mounted four-piston calipers, while a single-piston caliper works on the 220mm rear disc. ABS is cornering-aware, though not adjustable.
- The round dash features a 3.5-inch screen mixing TFT and LCD displays. The dash can be linked to your smartphone via Bluetooth and the My Triumph app, which enables the usual array of connectivity options.
- Retro-styling informs, but does not dominate, the Trident 800. The headlight and dash are round. However, the dash juts out aggressively above the headlight and features a flyscreen. The turn signals and license plate holder are swingarm-mounted and hug the 180/55 rear tire. The fuel tank recalls the 1960s with its knee indentation, while the tail section floats with seating and the tail/brake light. Below the engine is a color-coded chin spoiler. Triumph says the Trident has a “dynamic roadster stance.”
- The 2026 Triumph Trident 800 has an MSRP starting at $9995. Other retro-tinged naked upright sport bikes in this price range include the Kawasaki Z650RS ($8999), Moto Guzzi V7 Stone ($9690), Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark ($9995), and Yamaha XSR900 ($10,599). The Trident 800 is available in three colors, and you’ll pay an extra $150 if you choose Ash Grey or Carnival Red instead of Jet Black. You have plenty of time to plan for the arrival of the Trident 800, as it’s not due at dealers until April.
