Just as the excitement over the new Honda CB1000F has started to subside, Honda has found another venue for its 1000cc inline-4. Meet the 2026 Honda CB1000GT, a sport-tourer that boasts a range of advanced technology and an appealing price tag of £11,999. Yes, you read that right. The UK and Europe will be getting the grand touring motorcycle immediately. We will have to wait a little longer. With that time, let’s get to know the CB1000GT.
- The 2026 Honda CB1000GT gets the Hornet engine with some retuning. The powerplant is based on the 2017 CBR1000RR superbike motor, and that means plenty of power and reliability. According to Honda insiders, the ride-by-wire GT’s version of the motor has all the power of the Hornet, though delivered in a smoother manner befitting a sport-touring motorcycle. When revved to 11,000 rpm, the GT puts out a substantial 148 horsepower, with torque peaking at 75 lb-ft at 8750 rpm. The claimed top speed is a modest 124 mph, achieved through the use of a six-speed transmission with a quickshifter and a clutch featuring assist and slipper functions.
- Semi-active Showa suspension gives the CB1000GT a premium ride. Showa-EERA (Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment) works with the Nippon Seiki six-axis IMU to adjust the suspension every 15 milliseconds. This delivers an optimized ride in a wide range of conditions, just as you might find on a grand tour. Performance-oriented GT riders will appreciate the anti-dive function programmed into the fork. While damping and shock spring-preload are electronically adjusted, the fork’s spring preload is still manually set.
- There are four preset ride modes—Sport, Standard, Tour, Rain—plus a customizable user mode. Each mode adjusts the suspension settings, along with power, engine braking, and traction control, all of which are informed by a six-axis IMU. If you don’t like traction control, it can be defeated. The Tour mode stands out, as the suspension settings are firmed up as speed increases, rather than simply reacting to conditions
- A five-inch TFT helps you keep track of the ride modes and settings, and it is customizable. The Honda RoadSync app connects via Bluetooth and can integrate with a helmet intercom system. A USB-C power port is integrated into the dash.
- To match the powerful motor and varied ride modes, the 2026 Honda CB1000GT gets sporting geometry. While the wheelbase is roomy at 57.7 inches, the 25 degrees of rake and 4.2 inches of trail suggest the bike will turn, as they’re similar to the CB1000 Hornet. At 505 pounds with the generous 5.5-gallon fuel tank filled, it’s heftier than most sport bikes, though lighter than adventure-style sport-tourers in its class—about right for a GT. With the fuel consumption estimated at 39 mpg, you should be able to ride at least 200 miles between gas station visits.
- Nissin takes care of the braking. Those are 310mm discs in the front with the radially mounted four-piston calipers. The rear wheel has a 240mm disc worked on by a single-piston caliper. Cornering ABS is standard.
- Traction for the 2026 Honda CB1000GT is provided by Michelin Road 6 GT rubber. This pair of tires is the popular, heavier-duty cousin of the well-regarded Road 6 sport tires.
- The windscreen on the half-fairing is five-position adjustable. Honda used computational fluid dynamics to get the protection right. Note that the windscreen is not electronically adjustable—it’s a one-hand chore. Honda uses vegan-friendly Durabio for the windscreen, as it’s a plant-based biomass. The abbreviated fairing gives the GT the look of an upright sport bike rather than a motorcycle focusing on touring.
- Panniers, a centerstand, and hand guards are standard, while Honda offers three Accessory Packs. The Comfort, Sports, and Urban Packs are presented as suggestions for a rider’s intended use. Individually available Honda Accessories include deflectors for the fairing, a 50-liter top box, a 3-liter tank bag, a rear seat bag, a taller windscreen, and Comfort seats for the rider and passenger. Note that the action shots are of an accessorized GT.
- The 2026 Honda CB1000GT is available in three colors. As we were disappointed to report in the opening paragraph, we don’t know when or if the GT will be available in the United States.
