HammerLEDs started because two Latvian friends kept breaking their motorcycles’ turn signals and decided an indestructible solution was needed. In 2021, the duo launched a company to manufacture 100 percent drop-proof, 360-degree bendable, waterproof turn signals. I learned about them from a friend in Germany who was an early tester for the company. At the time, HammerLEDs wanted to send me a set, but I was so busy with other mods and 60 reviews on the Ultimate Motorcycling Yamaha Ténéré 700 Project Bike that I had to say, “Not yet”.
HammerLEDs’ first turn signal kit was designed for the Ténéré 700, and the company has since expanded its plug-and-play line. Every kit starts with light stalks compatible with all models, and the plug-and-play pieces are added based on the motorcycle’s make and model.
When I got my set a few months ago, they had not yet found compatible connectors for the front signals for the Ultimate Motorcycling Honda CRF300L Rally Project Bike. I didn’t want to wait to install them, so I went ahead anyway. I had already knocked the Rally’s turn signals several times from dropping the bike so often—I only dropped it in public, where it was the most embarrassing, and never in the privacy of my garage. While installing the right-rear turn signal, I discovered I had already broken the right-rear mount.
The HammerLEDs Flex 4 kit for the Honda CRF300L Rally runs $259 and comes with everything you need to replace all four stock turn signals. The rear I much easier than the front because the front requires more time for disassembly.
The front signals require dropping the wiring tray under the headlight to remove the OEM turn signals. Because I was in a rush to install the front turn signals, I agreed to take them without the required connectors that HammerLEDs was still sourcing at the time.
I am handy with a soldering iron, so I simply cut the connectors off the OEM signals and soldered them to the HammerLEDs. Before buttoning up the wiring tray, I did an open test of the front LEDs.
The Rally’s rear plastic comes off easily, and the wiring is exposed. Simply remove the OEM signals and replace them with the HammerLEDs.
Since I received the HammerLEDs Flex 4 turn signals, the Honda CRF300L Rally HammerLEDs kit comes with the necessary front connectors.
To make them flash at the proper rate, you add the provided resistor pack and install the included bike-specific flasher relay, which is readily accessible on the left side of the bike near the battery. I stopped mid-install to take a photo comparing the OEM turn signal and the HammerLEDs turn signal for size and brightness. The HammerLEDs Flex 4 turn signals are visibly brighter than the OEM units, and crash testing showed they are more durable.
The Honda CRF300L Rally is wired so the front turn signals function as DRLs. They are so bright, they can be mistaken for amber fog lamps. Once installed, there is nothing left to do except appreciate your 5.6-ounce weight savings, increased visibility in traffic, and the knowledge that you won’t be breaking these turn signals no matter how often you fall.
HammerLEDs Flex 4 turn signs have proven to be one of those rare upgrades that’s both functional and worry-free. The installation takes some patience. However, once it’s done, the benefits are immediate—bright, highly visible signals that work as DRLs and shrug off crashes. After seeing how tough these are, I can stop treating turn signals as consumable parts. For riders who go off-road, HammerLEDs turn signals aren’t just a nice upgrade—they’re a permanent fix.
