Segway’s wild new 60 MPH electric dirt bike is now officially on sale

Segway’s new Xaber 300 electric dirt bike is officially available for purchase starting today, with the company also confirming that the bike is now arriving at authorized dealers around the US.

The launch marks Segway’s latest push deeper into the electric powersports market, and the Xaber 300 is easily the company’s most serious off-road machine yet.

Despite the Segway name still being most closely associated with scooters for many people, the company has spent the last several years steadily expanding into higher-performance electric two-wheelers.

The Xaber 300 takes that evolution to another level, delivering specs that place it firmly in lightweight electric motorcycle territory.

The bike features a 21 kW peak motor capable of pushing the Xaber 300 to a claimed top speed of 60 mph (96 km/h), along with a 0-50 mph (80 km/h) acceleration time of just 5.5 seconds.

At 187 lb (85 kg), the bike remains relatively lightweight compared to larger electric motorcycles, helping it maintain a strong power-to-weight ratio and nimble off-road handling.

Power comes from a 72V 44Ah battery pack using Samsung 50S cells, giving the bike just over 3 kWh of battery capacity. Segway claims riders can see up to 62 miles (100 km) of range in lower power modes, though harder riding will naturally reduce that significantly.

The hardware package also looks far more like a dirt bike than a glorified e-bike. The Xaber 300 rides on a forged aluminum frame inspired by Segway’s Dakar racing prototypes and features adjustable Marzocchi suspension with 220 mm of travel front and rear. Four-piston hydraulic brakes with 220 mm rotors round out the setup.

Segway is also leaning heavily into software and electronics features. Riders get multiple ride modes, traction control, regenerative braking, GPS connectivity, geo-fencing, over-the-air updates, and even a “virtual electronic clutch” system designed to simulate the feel of a traditional motorcycle transmission. Though for most young riders these days who have never felt a clutch lever in their lives, the simplicity of twist-and-go throttles may be all the selling point they need.

The Segway Xaber 300 is priced at $5,299 and is now available through authorized Segway Powersports dealers.

As more major players enter the lightweight electric dirt bike market, the competition in the e-moto space is heating up quickly. And with companies like Segway bringing large-scale manufacturing and deep electronics experience into the segment, it’s becoming increasingly clear that electric dirt bikes are rapidly moving into the mainstream powersports world.
