Just in time for Christmas, the 2024 Husqvarna EE 2 electric dirt bike for kids debuts. Although the smallest of Husqvarna’s dirt bike lineup, it has big-kid features for brand-new riders and their parents. Let’s look at why this motorcycle might be under a tree in late December.
- The electric motor is in the hub and puts out 2.4 horsepower, and there are three power modes. The most restrictive mode keeps the Husqvarna EE 2 down to a walking pace, while the mode for experienced riders delivers a top speed of over 20 mph. Should the EE 2 fall over, it has an automatic cutoff. There’s also a tethered kill switch.
- Operation is fully automatic. Twist the grip, and off the EE 2 goes. There is no transmission or clutch.
- The Husqvarna BLi300 lithium-ion has a runtime of up to 100 minutes. More aggressive riders will run the battery down faster. However, in 35 minutes, it can get an 80 percent charge. If you or the rider don’t want to wait, the battery is hot-swappable.
- The chassis on the 2024 Husqvarna EE 2 is rugged and full-featured. The main frame is extruded aluminum, with the subframe made from plastic that benefits from fiberglass reinforcement. WP takes care of the suspension at each end, with 3.5 inches of fork travel and 2.8 inches of rear wheel travel. The 10-inch wheels are shod with Kenda Trak Master tires, while Endurance calipers work on 140mm discs—one on each wheel. Aluminum handlebars have ODI grips attached, with adjustable hand levers actuating the hydraulic brakes. The seat is long, allowing the rider to reposition as needed. This is a legitimate dirt bike.
- All in, the EE 2 weighs 64 pounds.
- The seat height can be raised, but not by touching the seat. The standard seat height is 18.5 inches. As a rider grows, the seat height can be lifted to 19.5 inches by changing the shock’s mounting position and sliding the fork tubes down in the triple clamp.
- The 2024 Husqvarna EE 2 will hit dealer showroom floors in time for Christmas. The MSRP is $2199, and the EE 2 comes in one colorway—blue/white. Husqvarna also offers high-performance branded riding apparel to complete the gift-giving experience.
