When September came around this year, I was excited to see two large boxes in my gallery containing the brand new 2023 Special Edition Bikes. I knew they would be enjoyable and convenient for getting around, but in reality, they are even easier than driving a car through the city, considering traffic and congestion. Plus, riding a bike allows you to breathe in fresh air and truly immerse yourself in your surroundings.
Now, let’s jump ahead to December in Iceland. I still use this LEV almost every day – whether it’s for a short jaunt to the gallery, strapping on my fly rod to go fishing in a nearby river, taking a dip in a hot spring, hitting the gym, or making a quick stop at the hardware store; this vehicle has been able to handle it all. It even performs surprisingly well in the snow and I have even taken it over some smaller river crossings in the rugged parts of southern Iceland.
I’m sure most of you are aware, the weather in Iceland is no joke. However, I have fearlessly navigated my bike through all types of conditions – from snow and ice to heavy rain and strong winds. I’ve even left it outside during storms without any problems; it’s incredibly durable and can go for long distances on just one charge… making it ideal for harsher environments.
Out of all the functional design elements on my bike, the main storage compartment in the center takes the crown as my favorite. It’s where I stash my most frequently used items – like a beanie, keys, camera, and even a coffee during rides. The space is designed to be aerodynamic and secure, so I never worry about anything falling out while on the road. Additionally, the 30L Carry-All case attached to the back provides ample waterproof storage for extra layers or delicate camera equipment – a crucial feature in this country closer to the arctic.
I am amazed by the bike’s capabilities and how it can handle both city and rugged terrain during photoshoots, fishing trips, or just for the thrill of riding. I cannot wait to see what new versions come out and where they will take me next.
