It’s an updates and enhancements year for the popular upright naked Kawasaki Z900 ABS sport bike. Changes range from the chassis to the electronics to the engine, so let’s take a look at what improvements have come to the 2025 Kawasaki Z900 ABS.
- New electronic throttle valves work with the ECU for stronger acceleration and higher mpg. The system gives the computer direct control over the air (throttle bodies) and fuel (injectors) for increased efficiency and improved quickshifter and cruise control functionality.
- The cams get new profiles. According to Kawasaki, the goal is additional low-rpm power and better fuel economy.
- Matching the new cams is new ignition timing. Kawasaki tells us that the new timing lowers fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
- The 2025 Kawasaki Z900 ABS gets a six-axis IMU. The IMU sends information to the computer to add corner awareness to the traction control and ABS. The IMU also works with the riding modes for maximum performance and safety.
- Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tires are employed. We know about the Q5 and Q5S, so we’re anxious to check out the Q5A.
- The 2025 Kawasaki Z900 ABS gets new front brakes. The 300mm discs are paired with new radially mounted Nissin four-piston calipers. As noted earlier, cornering-aware ABS is standard.
- Look down—you’ll see a new five-inch TFT dash. Inside, it has a lean-angle indicator and connects to your smartphone using the new, awkwardly named Rideology The App Motorcycle app. Top new Rideology software features include voice command and turn-by-turn navigation.
- As you might have noticed, the 2025 Kawasaki Z900 ABS has a new version of its Sugomi styling. LEDs take care of the lighting, and the plastic gets sharper and more concise. Metal accents are brought into the conversation.
- The 2025 Kawasaki Z900 ABS will land on dealership floors after the calendar ticks over. You can still get the Z900 for a buck under $10k if you like the Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Carbon Gray/Ebony colors. However, should you find yourself enamored with Galaxy Silver/Metallic Spark Black/Phantom Blue, the price goes up to $10,299.
We last tested the Kawasaki Z900 ABS in 2020.
