The 2025 Yamaha MT-07 sports a broad range of updates, from styling to suspension to electronics, and much more. While the ’25 is not a complete re-do, there are significant changes worth knowing about. So, let’s get to the Fast Facts.
- The ride-by-wire 2025 Yamaha MT-07 has two fixed riding modes and a Custom mode. Sport and Street are the standard modes, which change the throttle map and traction control level. The Custom mode allows the rider to choose between three throttle maps and adjustable traction control.
- The clutch gets assist and slipper functions. That means a lighter clutch pull and reduced rear tire traction loss when downshifting aggressively.
- That a new KYB fork leading the way. According to our sources at Yamaha, the new 41mm inverted fork gives the MT-07 “a planted front-end feel when cornering and braking.” Shock settings have been altered to complement the new fork. There’s no word on adjustability other than spring preload, so expect that the damping is fixed on the MT-07.
- Radially mounted front brake calipers come to the 2025 Yamaha MT-07. The four-piston front calipers are unbranded, with the rear caliper sporting the Nissin logo.
- Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tires are mounted on Yamaha’s SpinForged wheels.
- There’s a new five-inch TFT dash with additional functionality. Riders can choose between four display layouts. The Garmin StreetCross app can work with the dash wirelessly through your smartphone, giving you access to turn-by-turn navigation. The usual additional functions—listening to music, making calls, etc.—are also part of the package.
- To manipulate the new dash, there’s new switchgear. We are hearing from Yamaha that the new joystick-style switchgear makes operating the functions in the dash easier.
- Self-cancelling turn signals are here. There are two turn signal modes. A light push of the switch gives you three flashes for quick lane changes. A hard push delivers continuous flashes until you have ridden 15 seconds and 500 feet.
- The already-distinctive MT-07 gets a new styling treatment. Yamaha has gone the minimalist route, making the latest iteration the nakedest version yet. The headlight assembly shrinks and receives a single main LED with two running light slivers. The fuel tank area has been slimmed, with the 3.7-gallon fuel capacity unchanged. Don’t miss the new side covers and seat/tail assembly.
- Yamaha is an audio company, and the sound guys have gotten involved in the latest MT-07. Yamaha has altered the intake so the whoosh is directed at the rider for a ride that sounds faster, even if the acceleration rate isn’t actually improved.
- These updates add $400 to the price of the 2025 Yamaha MT-07. The price tag now reads $8599. The three color options for ’25 are Ice Storm, Matte Charcoal Black, and the old reliable Team Yamaha Blue. Watch for the MT-07 to roll onto dealer showroom floors next month.
