Yamaha updated the Ténéré 700 adventure bike last year, so it surprises us that we get more updates for 2025. As in 2024, the 2025 Yamaha Ténéré 700 is nowhere near an all-new motorcycle. However, there are plenty of enticing updates—performance, electronics, and styling. So, let’s dig in.
- The new ride-by-wire system delivers two new throttle maps—Sport and Explorer. The Sport mode is tuned for aggressive riding and Explorer mode smooths the power delivery out for technical conditions or long-distance travel.
- Traction control can now be turned on can be turned on or off. Leave it on when you’re on the road, and consider whether or not you prefer the traction control system off-road.
- The air intake is redesigned, with a shorter duct intended to improve low- to mid-range torque and power. The change enhances engine performance where off-road adventure riders need it most without altering the CP2 engine’s successful core design.
- The 2025 Yamaha Ténéré 700’s KYB suspension gets updates. The new shock has a longer stroke, while the 43mm inverted fork tube-top spring-preload adjustment and revised settings.
- A dedicated switch is added to the ABS. The three modes return—both wheels, front wheel only, and off.
- A 6.3-inch vertical TFT display replaces the T700’s old LCD screen. The dash offers two display themes to match the modes—Street and Explorer. Street mode looks like classic gauges, while the Explorer mode looks like the 21st century. Also, with the larger screen and TFT resolution, you get clearer readouts of speed, rpm, and other data.
- Smartphone connectivity is expanded via the Y-Connect app. Music, calls, turn-by-turn navigation driven by Google Maps, and other features are available. Riders can pair a smartphone to stream audio or handle calls hands-free.
- Along with the new dash comes redesigned switchgear. There’s a new joystick and refined button shape. The joystick and buttons are more intuitive and glove-friendly. The turn signaling system has three modes—three-flash soft click, full-click continuous flash, and self-cancel after 15 seconds or 500 feet.
- The 2025 Yamaha Ténéré 700’s updated styling nods to the bike’s Dakar Rally heritage with a rugged, purposeful look. Changes include the quad-LED headlight, side covers, tail section, color-matched handguards, flatter rally-inspired seat, and fuel tank cap. Some of the changes are also functional. The quad-LED setup boosts visibility, the flatter seat is designed to improve rider comfort, and the redesigned tank cap delivers fueling convenience.
- Massaged ergonomics on the 2025 Yamaha Ténéré 700 are designed to improve off-road performance and reduce fatigue on long-distance rides. A new clutch cover improves leg room and is claimed to enhance comfort, whether sitting or standing. The footpegs are grippier and offer a larger platform. The new flatter seat sits at the same height, with its raison d’être to add comfort.
- You get all of those upgrades for $200 more than last year. The list price of the 2025 Yamaha Ténéré 700 is $10,999. There are two colors to choose between—Team Yamaha Blue and Tech Titanium.
