With a 1-1 performance at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Jett Lawrence won the inaugural SuperMotocross World Championship. Ken Roczen went 2-2 to take P2 in the 2023 SuperMotocross series. Chase Sexton, who came into the playoff finale as the leader, finished in P3 in the first moto and crashed out of the second moto while leading. Sexton’s 3-20 results dropped him to P3 in the final standings. Cooper Webb took the final podium spot at the Coliseum with a 5-3 evening.
In addition to Sexton, several top riders crashed out during the evening. Justin Barcia and Dylan Ferrandis failed to finish a lap, while Jason Anderson crashed out of the second moto.
Lawrence enjoyed a million-dollar payday for winning the 2023 SuperMotocross World Championship, with Roczen taking home $500,000 and Sexton banking $250,000.
The 2024 season begins on January 6 with a Monster Energy Supercross race at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
