Pierer Mobility AG, owner of KTM, Husqvarna, and GasGas, now has a majority stake in MV Agusta. The family of outgoing MV Agusta CEO and Chairman Timur Sardarov will retain a 49.9 percent stake in MV Agusta, and have “joint control” over the iconic Italian brand. Pierer Mobility AG executive board member Hubert Trunkenploz is the new MV Agusta CEO and Chairman with Sardarov taking on three roles—Vice-Chairman, consultant, and brand ambassador.

“MV Agusta embodies passion and a unique sense of romance that captivated me, a seasoned entrepreneur, from day one,” Sardarov explains. “The personal challenge of guiding the company out of crisis and steering it towards success through innovative business strategies, team expansion, and new product developments has been conquered. It is an honor to play a role in shaping MV Agusta’s legacy. Over the past five years, both the company and I have evolved significantly. Our growth together is a testament to the transformative journey we’ve shared. My time with MV Agusta has been a pivotal chapter in my life, filled with mutual joys and challenges. As I continue to serve as a dedicated Vice-Chairman, I am committed to supporting the company and its ongoing success.”

Sardarov took over MV Agusta five years ago, reviving the brand after a near-bankruptcy in 2016. According to MV Agusta sources, the company is expected to have a “net profit for the first time in many years.” MV Agusta’s success has hinged on highly desirable limited editions, often made in association with non-motorcycle brands, that typically sell out the day they are put on sale. Additionally, MV Agusta brought out five new models in 2023, and has an all-new adventure motorcycle due to be released this year. During the Sardarov reign, MV Agusta continued to produce motorcycles exclusively in Schiranna, Italy, on the shore of Lago di Varese, and promoted its machines as “Motorcycle Art”.
