Source: website Metorbike | Michael and Marvin (Germany), both former schoolmates, have always shared a fascination with café racer style. As engineers, they imagined coupling an elegant combustion engine design with electro mobility.
In the process of their studies, they gained experience by converting combustion mopeds. Gradually acquiring all the necessary machines and tools, the two asked themselves “How about a one-of-a-kind electric café racer?” And so, grandpa’s workshop became the birthplace of Metorbike.
The two started developing their bike utilizing what they had learned in mechanical engineering, vehicular technology and electro mobility. In addition, mechatronics skills enabled them to operate the machines while everything else had to be learned through trial and error. Thus, the first prototype was built during their studies with every part made by hand – wood was filed, leather sewn, aluminum milled, parts painted, circuit boards soldered.
It soon became apparent that their idea of a bike was met with much enthusiasm from others. Thus, after 3 years of development Michael and Marvin were able to turn their hobby into a job.
